General description
The city of Bafoussam, in Cameroon, faces major public health challenges, exacerbated by rapid urban growth and insufficient infrastructure. This mission aims to mobilize the diaspora to support concrete and targeted initiatives. Priorities include the fight against malaria (distribution of bed nets, spraying), improving access to drinking water and urban sanitation, strengthening maternal and child health (equipped maternity wards, vaccination campaigns), and the supply of essential medicines and diagnostic equipment for local health centers. The mission is part of an integrated approach to prevention and improving access to care for the communities of Bafoussam.
Impacts / Objectives
Within three years, we aim to: reduce the incidence of malaria by 20% in the targeted neighborhoods; improve access to drinking water for an additional 15,000 residents and strengthen urban waste management; increase childhood vaccination coverage by 30% and guarantee access to quality maternal care for 80% of pregnant women; provide essential medicines to 5 health centers and strengthen local capacities for screening chronic diseases.
Contribution details
The diaspora is invited to contribute through:
* **Donations:** Direct funding for the purchase of treated bed nets, sanitation kits, essential medicines, medical equipment, and support for water-supply projects and secure boreholes.
* **Skills:** Expertise in public health, medicine (general practitioners, pediatricians, gynecologists), water and sanitation engineering, project management, training of local health staff and community workers.
* **Networks:** Mobilizing partners (NGOs, international institutions), raising awareness of the cause, advocating for Bafoussam's health development, and sharing best practices.
