Support for the “Community Green Project – Limbe Wildlife Centre” program

The Limbe Wildlife Centre (Cameroon) is launching the “Community Green Project” to protect local biodiversity and raise awareness among communities about environmental challenges, particularly reforestation and sustainable resource management. We invite members of the diaspora to actively engage in strengthening these essential efforts. Contributions will include the development of innovative educational materials, the organization of community awareness workshops, support for participatory reforestation campaigns, and assistance in project management. This mission is designed as a long-term initiative, with specific project phases lasting between 6 and 12 months. An indicative budget per phase will be required to cover materials, logistics, and field activities.

Impacts/objectifs

The project aims to strengthen environmental protection around Limbe by increasing community participation in reforestation and awareness activities. It also seeks to build local capacities in environmental education and sustainable project management for long-term autonomy. The diaspora will contribute through skills transfer, mentoring, and technical support. Finally, it will create a lasting network between diaspora experts and local actors to sustain future environmental initiatives.

The mission seeks diaspora experts to support environmental action around Limbe through education, project management, communication, and technical advisory roles. Activities include developing awareness materials, supporting project planning and evaluation, leading communication campaigns, and providing expertise in conservation and reforestation. Contributions aim to improve the impact and sustainability of local initiatives. Engagement can be done remotely or through occasional field missions.

Flexibilité d'engagement, de quelques heures par semaine à des missions plus intensives, à définir selon les compétences et la disponibilité. Capacité à travailler en collaboration avec des équipes locales et à s'adapter au contexte culturel. Maîtrise du français ou de l'anglais (essentiel pour le contexte camerounais). Motivation forte pour l'impact social et environnemental. Bien que la mission soit principalement bénévole, des options de défraiement (transport, hébergement) peuvent être envisagées pour les missions sur place, selon les ressources disponibles du projet.

Engagement is flexible, ranging from a few hours per week to more intensive missions depending on skills and availability. Candidates should be able to collaborate with local teams and adapt to the cultural context. Proficiency in French or English is required, along with strong motivation for social and environmental impact. While mainly volunteer-based, possible reimbursements (transport and accommodation) may be considered for field missions, depending on project resources.
